It wasn’t always like this.
After travelling the world in 2007 with 4 of my closest friends, I moved to London and found myself in the ‘rat race’, working hard and partying harder! It was an epic experience but one that almost drove me to burnout and to the point where my health, wellbeing and vitality was almost non-existent.
In 2011, I was under so much stress as I attempted to ‘close’ a marketing deal worth £1 million pounds for the company I was working for, that my body literally shut down and I had several visits to hospital, where I had to receive antibiotics through a drip.
My girlfriend at the time saved me and changed the course of my life forever, by asking…
“ALI YOU ARE CHANGING, YOU CAN’T EVEN FOCUS ON OUR CONVERSATIONS. WHY DON’T YOU TRY MEDITATION?”

“ALI YOU ARE CHANGING, YOU CAN’T EVEN FOCUS ON OUR CONVERSATIONS. WHY DON’T YOU TRY MEDITATION?”
Meditation found me and never gave up on me.
After resisting meditation for some time, proclaiming that I never knew what it was and asking, “Is it not for people who are religious?”
I was trojan-horsed by my girlfriend, “There is a guy called Deepak Chopra who runs a 21-day meditation challenge, you should give it a go.”
My alpha male tendencies (and ego) kicked in. “Challenge?” I thought, “I’m up for a challenge.”
My love affair with meditation began and whenever I felt stressed, I’d connect with Deepak and his 21-day meditation and all would be well in the world. After leaving London to travel the west coast of America (starting at Burning Man Festival), through Mexico and onto Central and South America, meditation became a daily practise. To be honest, I never had too much else to do. At the time, Deepak Chopra and Andrew Johnson became my travel companions, always on hand and accessible through my iPhone.

Starting up and Scaling up
Upon returning to the UK, I joined a friend’s start-up and the next 3 years where a whirlwind of business development, travelling, fast-living and success … all supported by a daily meditation practise.
We grew the company from £110k to £8 million in 3 years and I was about to embark on a new adventure to America and open our first US office, when a Life defining moment happened …

A synchronistic meeting with an old friend and Shaman
A friend of mine visited me for the weekend in Edinburgh and told me about a mutual friend who had recently went off to the Amazon Jungle and been initiated as a Shaman. She explained that our friend delivers shamanic healing ceremonies and that I should check it out.
A month later, I find myself sitting in ceremony with my friend the Shaman and 10 other ‘seekers’.
WHAT WAS A I SEEKING? THE ANSWERS TO LIFE.
You see, through my meditation practise, my growing fascination with spirituality and eastern philosophy, and my curious minds need to know what this was all about, I’d started asking myself, questions such as:
Who Am I?
What is life all about?
What happens when we die?
What is the purpose and meaning of life?
I WAS READY TO GO DEEP WITHIN MYSELF AND I HAD BEEN CALLED TO ATTEND THE CEREMONY I FOUND MYSELF SITTING IN.

Like a light being turned on I knew my life was about to go in a different direction.
I experienced a spiritual awakening.
It sounds crazy to some, however it’s the only way I can describe it.
It was profound, it was unnerving, and it was enlightening. I began to understand that we live in an interdependent and interconnected universe.
I realised that we are all Love, and the only thing preventing us from experiencing a world full of love, peace and harmony, was the barriers and constructs we’d placed within ourselves. All of the stereotypes, prejudices and judgements we’d gathered through our life, some of which were initially created to ‘protect us’ and ‘keep us safe’, were the very same things that were preventing us from experience the truth of who and what we are. Limitless, infinite spiritual beings.

Follow the path and know that anything and everything is possible.
From the moment I returned home, I knew I would be leaving the company I ran with my best friend.
Life seemed uncertain, scary and yet exciting.
I had a calling to work with people and to become more connected to our planet. A major shift in consciousness and awareness had ‘awakened’ me from my sleep and I knew I was destined to help others do the same.
